Sticky residue is often left behind when you are removing a sticker from a surface such as glass or wall, where the sticker has been pasted on for a while. How to remove the sticky residue easily?

There are several methods you can use, and we will list them in this article.

Stickers are fun to use and apply on any surface you like, but they can be a pain to remove!

OPTION 1: EASILY REMOVABLE STICKER

Some stickers are easier to remove, so you can simply use your hands and fingers. You can peel off the sticker, and find that it doesn’t really leave much stubborn residue behind on the surface. The surface also makes a difference – whether it is a smooth and polished surface such as glass or plastic, or a rougher, textured surface such as a stone wall or wooden surface.

If you find that the sticker is comparatively easy to peel off, and the residue left behind is minimal, you can peel off the sticker by going around the perimeter. Peel a bit off from every side, and then keep going in towards the center of the sticker, attempting to peel it off as one single piece, instead of ripping away shred by shred. This usually works when the adhesive on the sticker was not that sticky to begin with, and there is lamination on the surface of the sticker, so it’s held together quite intact throughout the peeling process.

As a last step, use hot soap water to go over and wipe away any sticky residue or film that is left behind.

OPTION 2: USE ADHESIVE REMOVER

Some stickers are more stubborn to deal with.

When you try to peel them off, they leave behind residue, or jagged shreds on the surface.

In cases like these, you can opt to use adhesive remover. We would recommend the 3M Adhesive Remover which you can easily purchase at most hardware shops. Simply spray some of the adhesive remover over the sticker and leave it in for a few minutes. You will find that it becomes much easier to peel off the sticker then – it comes off in one piece.

OPTION 3: LIGHTER FLUID

Another option is to use lighter fluid such as the Zippo lighter fluid. The application is similar, and this works well for small pieces of stickers. Again, leave it in for a few minutes, and when you return to it again, you will find that the sticker comes off easily.

Diecut stickers are fun to apply on most surfaces.

USING A SCRAPER: You can opt to use a scraper, but be sure to test it out gently at first, making sure that it doesn’t scratch the surface you are working on.

ADVISORY: When working with these liquids and materials, be sure to work in an airy environment, and use gloves if you need to. Wash your hands thoroughly, and make sure they don’t come into contact with your eyes.

If you are searching for the best spot on National Day at the Padang Singapore to view the fireworks and festivities, please watch this video:

This article from Straits Times also highlights the best places to get the perfect shot on National Day from the Padang of the Singapore festivities on the night of 9th August 2019.

About Padang Singapore

Padang is a Malay word meaning ‘field’. The Padang Singapore is a huge open field located in the Downtown Core in Singapore. It is surrounded by several significant landmarks, such as the City Hall MRT Station, City Hall, the Old Supreme Court Building and the Saint Andrew’s Cathedral.

Padang Singapore is used as the venue for many events, including the National Day Parades due to the significance of the first National Day Parade having been held there in 1966.

Padang Singapore is also used as a recreational area with both the Singapore Cricket Club and the Singapore Recreation Club having been formed there in 1870 and 1883 respectively.

In Singapore, it is a common sight to see the National Day flags being displayed around the island, on HDB flats and around the residential estates.

We at Pullupstand.com also offer NDP banners to decorate office spaces and condos and business areas, with ready templates that you can customise to include your company’s logo, and quickly be prepared to join in the festivities.

If you are a visitor to Singapore, welcome!

We love this sunny island we call home, and every year when National Day swings around, we become all nostalgic and emotional, especially when national day songs are in the air wherever you go, in the car on the radio as you are navigating through peak hour traffic, at the supermarkets as you are navigating the aisles, and more.

Here are a list of National Day songs, including some of our favorites – Stand Up for Singapore, Count on Me Singapore, We Are Singapore, and our personal favorite and guaranteed tearjerker (especially if you are a Singaporean celebrating NDP overseas) – Kit Chan’s rendition of ‘Home’.
